Naughty Me !

Filed under: Family, No Fabric Diet — Clare @ 10:45 am

What did I say? 1st September was going to see me being a good girl and Not Buying A Single Centimetre of Fabric.

How long did it last? 13 days!

Seriously, I needed purple fabric for Tamzin’s quilt and black for The Latest Idea, some black bias binding for the wallhanging/abstract fabric project and a delve in the remnants box for white cotton for dying practice.

So this is where we went yesterday afternoon.

I wanted to take a photo of the brilliant mural on the wall outside, but chickened out.

And to round this post off – I think I’ve taken the best photo of Alex of all time (except for one cross cat!).

Straying off the Fabric Diet

Filed under: Fabric, No Fabric Diet, Quilt Design — Clare @ 1:12 pm

1st September is now marked on the calendar with a No More Fabric warning, especially after this find at the
Vide Grenier at Creyssac on Sunday.

It must be about 3 metres long and the price was so ridiculously cheap I couldn’t resist it.

A thunderstorm is brewing up but before I log out how about this for a quilt design? It was wrapped round a bottle of wine DS-D bought back from Italy.

The Wedding Quilt and Fabric Diet

Filed under: My Quilts, No Fabric Diet — Clare @ 12:38 pm

This is the material.

The FQ’s for the letters cost a Euro each, the background cost a little bit more (ouch), but it was a “must have”.

Thanks to Kim for this month’s fabric diet badge. She’s got a lot on her plate at the moment so it was great of her to take the time out to upload the new design.

Lynne Edwards and Fabric Diet

Filed under: No Fabric Diet, Quilts and Quilting — Clare @ 3:34 pm

I was leafing through the January 2007 edition of Country Living UK and came across an article about Lynne Edwards. Now being a relatively new quilter and not quite au fait with the celebrity quilters, I was thrilled. There are some gorgeous photos of her quilts, her applique, tote bags, etc. Oh and a picture of part of her stash!

If anyone is interested in seeing a copy, I can easily scan it as a PDF document and email it to you.

There was something else I was going to say, but I’ve forgotten what it is!

Oh I’ve just remembered. In the same article there is a list of where to see quilts and the Quilt UK Show at Malvern on 17 to 20 May is mentioned, as is the Festival of Quilts at the NEC Birmingham on 16 to 19 August.

No it wasn’t that! Just to say thanks again to Kim for her lovely March Fabric Diet badge.

Merci Mille Fois

Filed under: Crazy Scraps Challenge, No Fabric Diet, Stashbusters — Clare @ 2:41 pm

A big thank you to Kim for letting me using her February No Fabric Diet badge. The HTML has worked perfectly this time.

Another big thank you to Suzette at Stashbusters for letting me join the Stashbusters ring.

On that note I am disappearing – guess who added the binding to Crazy Scraps last night!

September Goals 0 – Stash 1

Filed under: No Fabric Diet, Quilts4Leukaemia — Clare @ 11:17 am

Oh dear not one goal that I can put a line through and say, with delight, I’ve Done It!

O’s and X’s is nearly finished, the top of the wall hanging for Mum, as you know, is sort of there and the rest is at a standstill.

To punish myself I am going on Kim’s October Fabric Diet and I’m not going to buy one little piece of fabric this month, not one.

I am not going to get side tracked. I am not going to get side tracked.

I have changed September to October and let’s hope that this month I manage to put a line through a few things!

On the Blocks for Leukaemia front, welcome to Karen at Passionate Quilter. We are now up to 25 blocks and more on the way. I must start (ha ha) thinking about the back, whether or not sashing will be needed, etc, etc. I need a huge expanse of floor, a very big white sheet and a lot of patience!

Oh and could you all stop posting please – 62 feeds this morning! Its going to take me an age to catch up!
