7 Things

Filed under: Memes — Clare @ 10:35 am

Here we go again.  Tracey has tagged me for the 7 things meme.  How many times have I done this?  Every time I get tagged I swear I won’t do it, but Tracey sounded so insistent in her mail so I could hardly refuse ;-)

OK, so here we go.

THE RULES :

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.

2. Post THE RULES on your blog.

3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.

4. Tag 7 people and link to them.

5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Done 1 and 2 so here’s 3

  1. I was born left handed. When I started at school the nun’s made me use my right hand. I am slightly ampidextrous and even now can never be too sure whether to use my left or right hand.  Perhaps that accounts for Unco-ordinated Clare who can’t cut in a straight line
  2. I adore Labrador dogs.  We used to have one when I was younger.  She died when I was 14.
  3. Cats, especially Siamese, run a close second to Labradors.  Perhaps that’s because we had Siamese cats too!
  4. I never ever throw a book away.  I might give them away or swap them (mostly Chick Lit),  but I’ll never throw one away.  In fact, I treasure them and only lend if the person promises to return them.  I lent my copies of Malory’s Morte d’Arthur to someone once – never got them back!
  5. I  love swimming – can’t wait for the pool to be opened – though funnily enough don’t like indoor pools.  I get claustrophobic and my eyes hate the chlorine.
  6. I wear glasses – have done since my early 20’s.  I can’t wear contacts – my prescription is not a “contacts” one.
  7. Wooo hooo – I’ve started reading proper books again.  No more chick lit stuff.  That is definitely a wonderful thing!

I’m not going to tag 7 people so if you are reading this YOU’RE IT

Something odd is going on – this won’t wrap properly so please excuse the odd formatting.  I think it’s WordPress cos it doesn’t matter which browser I use, it does it anyway.

Anyone else having problems?

UPDATE - I think it was the template.  Please excuse me while I redecorate :)

6 and 7 things and a Name

Filed under: Memes — Clare @ 11:19 am

Having been tagged again, this time by Susan, I think it is time to get this lot out of the way before another lot arrives. I’m going to narrow the 6 and 7 down to 5 cos that’s now many letters are in my name. Right, here we go.

C = cigarettes! Yes I do, but not in the house. DH gave up in 2000 cos of a heart condition and I cut right down to about 5-6 a day, mostly in the evening.

L = Light. Lots of it. Not a winter person, don’t like the dark mornings and evenings, but do like the lovely bright, light, cold and frosty days we get here (sometimes).

A = Ancestors. See “E”.

R = Rules and Regulations. Oh dear, this means the Quilt Police I think. They aren’t allowed in this house. If they could see the reverse side of my tops they would have a fit and I’d be jailed for life!

E = Everest. Mount Everest was named after my great great great uncle, Sir George Everest, Surveyor General of India. His niece was Mary Everest who married George Boole, mathematician and philosopher, without whom none of us would be blogging. George and Mary had 5 daughters, the second eldest being Margaret, my great grandmother. She married Edward Ingram Taylor and they had 2 boys, Geoffrey and Julian. Julian is my paternal grandfather.

And thanks to Nicolette for the You Make Me Smile award.

Smile!

If you read this, consider yourself tagged for all 3!

That’s your lot – I outta here

WiP Wednesday – 17-10-2007 (Haunted Houses) and Memes/Tags

Weekly round up – what’s on the wall this week?

The first photo was taken on the 14th and the second one yesterday. The only trouble is that the lovely dark green has come out turquoisey!

The words are going to continue as far round the quilt as they will go “Haunted houses. Enter at your peril.” I am fiddling about deciding where to put the houses and tend to favour “scream” on the left which will continue using the words as the border. The O’s in “Boo”11.gif got changed around and I like the big o last, like BoO! They are going to have wobbly eyes in them.

I mucking about with fabrics and have got material drapped 56.gif over the kitchen chairs. DH is not impressed!

Haunted Houses

Haunted Houses2

These are the words I’m going to use – Alex and I are having fun writing them down as we think of them and, as you can see, the flies have joined in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of them are going to be cut and some sewn. It really depends on how much space there is. Alex is looking forward to drawing cobwebs. Talking of which must get some silver embroidery floss.

Words

There are tags and memes being thrown at me from all directions. Nicolette has tagged me to reveal 7 things about me, 6 facts and habits about me, and has given me a You Make Me Smile Award. Lovely Lily has tagged me for the What’s in a Name meme.

06.gif

I’m going to combine the 3 meme’s tomorrow and I promise promise promise that I won’t be tagging anyone else. The meme stops here :-)

Seven Things

Filed under: Memes — Clare @ 2:22 pm

Oh crumbs – I was hoping to get away with this one, but Joyce decided she wasn’t going to let me.

So here goes – ummmmmm – thinking hat time. 7 things about me.

  1. Find it absolutely impossible to draw, cut or sew a straight line. Even a ruler doesn’t help matters. I need lines, like on the cutting mat, to help me.
  2. Like Dianne, I tend to overbuy on fabric. After all, it could be discontinued couldn’t it and then where would I be.
  3. Lived with DH for years before we got married and that was only because Alex came along. If she hadn’t we’d probably still be living in sin.
  4. Love my Mum more than anything else in the world.
  5. Hate being cold. I mean I really hate being cold. No matter how warm it is if there is a breath of cold air you bet I’ll feel it.
  6. Love books to distraction. Just wish I still had the time to read these days. Used to get through 2 books a week. Now I can barely managed one a month.
  7. Worry too much about nothing in particular.

Not very inspiring I know, but brain is half dead having spent most of the day on the internet for DH.

Ok, so now I tag Vivi, Tazzie, Anne, Patti, Dawn, Jen and Fiona

What Book are You?

Filed under: Memes — Clare @ 1:15 pm

Thanks to Sassenach at Force Majeure Farm for this

You’re Watership Down!

by Richard Adams

Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you’re
actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their
assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they
build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You’d
be recognized as such if you weren’t always talking about talking rabbits.
