You Ain’t Going to Believe This

Filed under: Books — Clare @ 3:44 pm

I read on Tonya’s blog that she had been approached by someone from Clarkson Potter, an imprint of Random House, about reviewing a book for them.

Now this is odd because at about the same time I too received an email asking if I would review The Uncommon Quilter. I thought it was a spam mail so ignored it, then read that Tonya had been approached by the same person so quickly quickly emailed said person back et voila! The book is on its way!

WiP Wednesday – 10-10-2007

Busy busy busy. Loads of stuff happening here.

What’s on the design wall?

Haunted House

Boo nearly there.

“Whoo hoo hoo said the Hook-Eared Owl”. Anyone read The Midnight Folk by John Masefield? Real Halloween story involving nasty wizards, witches and a little boy’s quest to find the treasure of Santa Barbara which his great grandfather lost. Brilliant book for adults and kids.

There is also Haunted House by Jan Pienkowski. I think that’s what I’m going to call this quilt.

It’s going to be rather big, but no problem. The wall where it will be hung for Halloween forever after is huge!

Really enjoying doing this quilt and can’t wait to go to Foire Fouille to buy loads of plastic spiders, wobbly eyes and other Halloween goodies to sew on to it. The publicity for Halloween hasn’t started coming through the letter box yet, but it can’t be far off.

Lucky Day

And this is Tamzin’s quilt. Ready for hand quilting.

Thanks for all the lovely supportive comments over the last few days. I don’t normally dump, but when I do I do!

Pressies and a Small Purchase.

Filed under: Books, Quilts and Quilting — Clare @ 10:12 am

A long standing friend, who I have never met, but we belong to the same Yahoo Group, mentioned sometime ago that she had received 2 quilting books from a book club which she did not want so would I like them? Yes please!

Well, they were parcelled up and ready to go by UPS from Portland, Oregon to France when my friend Meg’s husband just happened to be in Texas, so they were sent down to him. They then travelled across the Atlantic to the Pays Basque and a few weeks later were delivered to Allison who lives in the Charente Maritime. Allison gave them to my friend Sue who lives just north of Nontron and last Saturday I finally got my hands on them.

And then last Monday we went into Perigueux, as you know, and as we were in the vicinity of Mr Bricolage I popped in for thread and blades for the cutter. I came out with this little lot, more blades and other bits and pieces. I love the colours and shall probably use this for Aunt’s quilt (if it is ever finished).

And on that subject, I am trying to get the sections up onto a white wall to show you all so more on that later.

Meme Monday

I found this on Ms Jan’s blog, who found it on someone else’s. So thanks to Ms Jan and to the “someone else”.

I am a book freak and that is one thing that I really really miss – my books. My one treat when I worked in London was the monthly visit to Hatchards in Piccadilly. I used to allocate the whole of my lunch hour (or two) for a browsing session and always came out having spent far too much. Working within a 15 minute walk of the shop was a priority whenever I changed jobs LOL.

Look at the list of books below:

  • Bold the ones you’ve read
  • Italicize the ones you want to read
